Name: Emily Leeke
Grad School: Master of Science in Business Major: Biomedical Sciences & Entomology Certificates: Biomedical Research & Development, Public Health Entomology |
I strive to be bubbly and gregarious with a profound appreciation for life big and small. Known by colleagues as a diligent, extrovert and by friends as their resident bug girl, I have combined my passion for veterinary medicine with my love of insects throughout my college experience. By doing so, I have found the interwoven crossroads between human and animal health, discovering the threads at which they connect. I believe the future of veterinary medicine and the protection of our OneHealth network depends on charismatic, innovative, leaders who are willing to champion careers rooted in protecting local communities.

Brockman ScholarThe Brockman Scholarship is a 5 year, merit based, full ride scholarship at Texas A&M University awarded annually to 50 individuals with high levels of constructive community engagement and exhibit the qualities of a good citizen. This scholarship allows me to complete my undergraduate STEM degree in Biomedical Sciences, and then complete Texas A&M University's Masters of Science in Business degree program my fifth year. Through this scholarship I will be given the opportunity to network with talented students across campus, meet intellectuals who offer career and personal development, and find opportunities to serve my A&M community with my fellow scholars.
I will graduate from Texas A&M University, and the Brockman Foundation with both my undergraduate Biomedical Sciences degree and my MS Business degree, adequately prepped and equipped to apply for and tackle the challenges I will face in Veterinary Medicine. At the end of the day operating a hospital facility is operating a business, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to gain a background in both business and science before entering the medical field. Veterinary MedicineEver since kindergarten I have always had a love for animals. From playing with my pet dog, or catching insects outside, I have always had a passion for all the creatures that inhabit the world around us. Combine my passion for science with my passion for animals together, and the perfect career for me is a veterinarian. I love piecing together how the world works around me, breaking things into systems, and drawing connections. I love interacting with other people and thrive off of the energy that comes with meeting someone new. I constantly strive to serve my community and those around me, and feel the need to help those around me whenever possible. It is my ultimate goal to graduate with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine following my undergrad and masters programs.
