I participated in the largest student led service project in the nation. Every year A&M puts on the Big Event where roughly 20,000 Aggies stop what they are doing and give back to the local community. This past year I helped an older man week and set up his garden beds.
United Way - Through ASSIST, I have volunteered at various United Way sponsored events to outreach into the College Station Community 5 hours, from carnivals to financial aid package assembly, when United Way needs help, we answer. B.O.P - Big O'l Project is the capstone of ASSIST. The freshman class is given $1000 to create their own service project. Due to coronavirus, our plans to have a special needs track and field day was cancelled. Instead the money went to local elementary schools in Bryan and fundraising efforts to raise awareness for hunger in our community during desparate times. Christmas Cards for the Elderly - I helped develop a project in which a table was set in the courtyard of the memorial student center as part of a service day, and individuals walking by stopped and made Christmas Cards for the nursing home down the street.
CHURCH
Every Summer since the 7th grade, I have volunteered over a week for a few Vacation Bible School experience camps at churches in my areas. From decorating a church ground to delve into a jungle, or big city, or forest, to leading children all week through their activities, each summer I am Responsible for leading a group of small children through a variety of tasks and monitoring their safety throughout the day while teaching them how much they are loved by Jesus.
