Thanks to the Bowie-Austin FFA I spent 146.42 hours raising a market lamb to show at various school shows and the Travis County Youth Show from 2015-2016. Then, the following year I spent 161.67 hours raising a second market lamb to show at more district school shows and Travis County Youth Show. This totals 308.09 hours spent on the school farm surrounded by lambs, goats, chicken, pigs, and steers, working on my market lambs. From treating basic illnesses, to learning animal handling, to learning how to properly groom and bathe a lamb, to working on showmanship, my two years on the farm have taught me so much about the large animal meat industry, and the safety and precaution that surround a farm and raising livestock.
